The Most Appalling Sin
By: Rev. Peter Dodge

This morning as we return to the book of 1 Kings we’ll find that Elijah is no longer the main character in focus; the text begins to focus on King Ahab for a few chapters and we’ll get a front row seat to view God’s dealings with the evil king. Surprisingly, the first thing we’ll see is the grace and mercy of God showered upon Ahab and Israel as God rescues them from the attacks of the king of Syria. How will Ahab respond to the blessing of God in his life? Listen here to see…

Oct 29, 2017Coming Out of the CaveBy: Rev. Peter DodgeLast week we saw Elijah on the mountain top with the prophets of Baal; what an incredible victory he experienced there as the Lord confirmed His word and His prophet. Yet this week we find Elijah in a much different place- a place of great discouragement. The valley of discouragement is a place many of us are familiar with. Discouragement is part of the human experience. In our time in the word today we will explore what kinds of things contributed to Elijah’s discouragement, how he attempted to help himself, and we’ll ultimately see what God did for him and the keys He gave us to overcome discouragement in our lives.

Oct 22, 2017Dancing Between Two AltarsBy: Rev. Peter DodgeIn today’s passage of 1 Kings we see Elijah calling the people to choose whom they will serve. To prove to them that the Lord is God, Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal to a contest, “Let the true God show himself by fire”. As we examine the altar of God and the altar of Baal and their characteristics we must ask ourselves- Which altar am I serving? Am I following the true and living God or am I following something less? Choose this day whom you will serve.

May 21, 2017The Paradoxical KingdomBy: Rev. Peter DodgeSeries: Christ: The Servant of GodThroughout the book of Mark we’ve seen Jesus use a number of very useful
teaching tools; we’ve seen Him use signs and symbols, proverbs and parables, and today we shall see Him employ one more: the paradox. A paradox takes 2 normal contradictory ideas or concepts and links them together in a single new thought. Jesus will employ 4 paradox in this passage to teach us necessary Kingdom truth.
