    The Servant is Worshipped
In the beginning of Mark chapter 14 we see the story of Mary (the sister of Lazarus) coming and anointing Jesus with expensive perfume. Mary’s actions here are clearly a form of worship and we can see that the Lord was pleased.  What can we learn from Mary about worship that pleases the Lord? What are the characteristics, the consequences, and the effects of pleasing worship?  Listen here to find out.

    The Servant’s Presence

Today in Mark 11 we’re going to see Jesus arrive in Jerusalem.  As He makes His way to the temple we find that His presence with them does not bring the expected blessing the Messiah was prophesied to bring, but rather Jesus’ presence in the temple brings judgement and wrath.  Jesus found many problems in the temple, might He find any similar troubles in the church today? Listen here to learn more.

    Making Godly Decisions
As we celebrate and honor our High School Graduates today it seems appropriate for us to pause and speak to a skill they will need to develop as they launch out into the adult world now- the skill of Making Godly Decisions.  But it’s not just them- all of us need to have this skill and all of us need to continue to grow in it.  So how do we make godly decisions? How do we hear the voice of the Spirit in the midst of our chaotic world? How do we know His will.  Listen here for help.

    The Paradoxical Kingdom
Throughout the book of Mark we’ve seen Jesus use a number of very useful
teaching tools; we’ve seen Him use signs and symbols, proverbs and parables, and today we shall see Him employ one more: the paradox.  A paradox takes 2 normal contradictory ideas or concepts and links them together in a single new thought.  Jesus will employ 4 paradox in this passage to teach us necessary Kingdom truth.

On Easter Sunday 2017 our Pastor used his testimony to talk about the New Life that Jesus offers to us all- "for we were all dead in our trespasses and sins"- but Jesus still raises the dead today!

    Faces in the Crowd

There were lots and lots of people there to line the road into Jerusalem on that Palm Sunday 2,000 years ago- but not everyone was there for the same reason- or even the right reason.  Behind every face in that crowd was a motivation for being there... what were those motivations? Were they all good? Were they bad? Can we find our own face in that crowd? Listen here as we explore these questions and more.

    The Servant Conquers, Part 1
The first story we read in our text this morning is a very familiar one but that doesn’t imply that we have exhausted the well of truth to be drawn from it.  There is much yet to be learned here and today we will touch on some of that truth and will come away with a new understanding of Christ’s victory over the danger of trial and storms.  From there we will move into Mark chapter 5 and see there Christ’s victory over the demonic forces oppressing the Gaderene Demoniac.  Overall, what we’ll see both this week and next is that God’s servant Jesus Christ is the Master of every situation and the conqueror of every enemy- and if we trust Him and obey His orders, we will never need to be afraid.

    The Servant Brings the New

Last week we discussed how Jesus told the religious leaders that He did not come to prop up or re-build the old system of law and tradition, but He came to do something new. This week, and we move into Mark chapters 3 & 4 we see what the new means- Jesus came to Found a New Nation, Establish a New Family, and Announce a New Kingdom.  Listen here to learn more.
